Have some patience with attaching the base..

Was very excited to receive our new phone holder today. Superb packaging of all the individual items pre-installation. Instructions are included but not needed if you just watch the video. The trick for me was to loosen the two screws more than enough to be certain that the “lip” of the actual clamp for the base assembly was able to tuck up under the framing of the vent. Took me a few tries but I got it. Tested the base for movement and was literally none what so ever. If you do feel any slight wiggle, check the two screws again to be sure they are tight. (Very snug). And yes, the vertical vent does still move left to right without any resistance. I attached the balance of parts (spring holder), found my sweet location and secured tightly. All good! Just a suggestion, take the phone off the mount with a slight twist and pull. Don’t yank it out like there’s no tomorrow. So patience is the key to getting attached to the vent and you’ll will be happy as I am that I purchase this holder. So happy I googled holders for Outbacks and found Offroam. Well with the price, no window obstruction, super clean look and minimal in any vibration. Hope you too will enjoy this holder.

The mount that becomes part of your vehicle…

I tried multiple phone mounts in our Subaru Outback 2022, but was restricting myself to those that do not use gels/glues on dashboards, which left the air vent ones. Most of those can only be used in horizontal vents, though one I bought did not specify that fact (first one), and ended up breaking one of the vertical fins… Frustrating!
So, I kept looking….while using the above culprit on the left side of the steering wheel, which is not greatly convenient.
I did a search for mounts that are more specifically designed for our car, and found this one… it was more expensive than any other I’ve looked at, but I checked out multiple reviews, read info on multiple sites, checked out the installation videos… and ultimately purchased one. And I have to say, that as expensive as this phone mount is, and the slight confusion during installation, this thing was TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!
It is SOLID once installed, it holds the phone like it’s part of the vehicle, it’s easy to get phone in and out. This thing ROCKS!!!
Would I recommend it? Heck yeah! Would I buy it again? Definitely!
If you want your phone to be stable while you adventure, this thing will be your best bet!

Disappointed

Phone holders are so hit and miss. Despite all the positive reviews, this phone holder doesn't work. It won't clamp onto that narrow ledge and I've read the instructions and watched the video and it just doesn't work.

I installed it as directed and within 2 minutes driving on a smoothly paved road it fell off the dashboard.

This product is strong, durable, affordable and easy to mount with the instructional video link enclosed. I emailed OFFROAM with initial questions and they immediately emailed me back, so great customer service as well. I was hoping to order another one for our other Subaru but not compatible for 2017 Subaru. YOU NEED TO GET THIS!
