I love the concept and when it holds it’s exactly what I was wanting. However, with the weight of the phone, the vent holder thing falls off every couple of days under very normal driving conditions. I’ve remounted several times but the attachment seems fragile. My current strategy is to tighten the screws with every use which is annoying.
Unusual compact design and intelligent mounting solution
This product seems well made, but has a serious design flaw. It uses a smaller ball size then the "standard" Ram Mount 1" size B. This is literally the standard size that almost every manufacturer off accessories uses. So why a smaller size? To sell your proprietor arm mount? That's a serious miss, sorry. If it had used a standard 1" ball this would be a 5/5 product. I was unable to decide between 2 or 3 stars, but went with 3 because it is well made, and you do list the actual size of the ball on the specs.
Thank you for your feedback! There are many industry standards for ball sizes, including 17mm, 20mm and 1'. Our system is designed specifically around a 20mm ball size for optimal strength and stability. We clearly list this specification on our product pages to ensure compatibility.
The mount base mounted easily as described. Added my own phone cradle and extension arm which give me a perfect heads up display without compromising the screen
