I like this mount, it works well and holds the phone securely. The one small flaw is when you put it in the holder it will push the buttons on the side of the phone unless you are careful to place it above the buttons. I like that you can keep it away from the vent air flow as well.
I ordered this mount for a 2015 ford xlt king cab after searching extensively for one. The 2 things that I liked was that it was aluminum, not plastic, and that it mounted to the frame of the vent and not the louvers. This provided a sturdier base. Also, where I mounted it; in the upper right hand portion of the driver side center vent; does not restrict air flow at all; and while it may be close, I still have plenty of room between my shifter and my phone. In fact, the only critique is that it restricts louver movement at the very highest adjustment position, which does not affect my vent use at all. The location is perfect for me and does not block any field of view. It holds my phone securely with no vibration bounce. So far, I am extremely satisfied with this product.
This is an excellent alternative to the poorly designed Proclip mount I was using. I gave it a 3 because I believe there is room for improvement in the ergonomics of attaching and removing the phone. Too many sharp edges makes it uncomfortable to handle. A smoother edge and even perhaps a finger handle to easily expand the spring would be a nice feature.
Hi Christine, thanks for your thougthful feedback. The holder is designed for one-hand docking/undocking. Please have a look at the animations or installation videos for a recommended technique.
All edges on the holder are either chamfered or radiused—similar to the crisp, precise feel of an all-metal product like a MacBook. This design approach is intentional and different from the plastic products you might have experience with.
I purchased the Offroam phone mount for F-350 for a cross country trip. The mount was easy to install and is made of quality parts. I love mount location. It is easy to view my phone and does not interfere with the vent or shift lever. The mount holds the phone securely and does not vibrate. Wish I had purchased it sooner. Great job Offroam!
This thing is solid. Very well built and easy to install. My only complaints is that it actually does limit how high you can raise the vent upwards because it blocks the louvers just a bit. And also, it’s difficult to get the phone out of the way so it doesn’t block the vent. Otherwise it’s pretty awesome. Better than any other holder I’m sure.
